The Service Station Of My Dreams

from End Of An Ear (compilation album) by John Zonn

/

about

Recorded in my car, by the side of the road, in 2014-15, using a Zoom H1 digital recorder. The police sirens at the start were recorded in Patcham, on the edge of Brighton, and manipulated using Wavelab. The song is about growing up in a relatively privileged background and looking back, wondering what the blazes has happened. The song was included near the end of the 'Self-confessed Petrol Head' album, released in 2015.

lyrics

...growing up, pulling the pump and, asking for the cash, it's a bit of a comedown to be a punter, reaching to the bottom of my pocket stash...
